A NOTE FROM KATE
There’s so much to love about the Christmas season: decorating, parties, food, family, gifts. As wonderful as these things are, the truly remarkable thing about Christmas is the birth of Jesus.
The account of Christ’s birth is simple in detail but profound in its meaning. God Himself entered our world in the form of a helpless baby named Jesus. He was born in a manger to the Virgin Mary. Glorious angels appeared to lowly shepherds and wise men traveled from afar to worship Him. The incarnation changed everything. That’s Christmas.
I created this perpetual calendar because I wanted to exhibit and remember the simple and significant message of Christmas. Simplicity is hard. I struggle with it myself every year. In the design world, it’s so hard to create art that looks and feels complete; you want to keep adding and filling in the space. Similarly, a simple Christmas so easily turns into a busy and hectic series of days. We keep adding to the celebration and we forget: Christmas is already complete. Christ has completed His work.
As you count down to Christ’s birth, enjoy the art in this calendar, and sing the carols, my hope is that it will be an anchor of sorts, a daily reminder that God lavishly gave us His Son. Joy to the world!
May His joy be yours! –Kate
