I have always, always loved “O Holy Night.” I’m pretty sure I just liked singing it opera style as a kid (because of the really high notes at the end). I’ve heard so many beautiful versions of it though, and it’s really powerful when there are a chorus of voices singing it. 🙂

  2. AC English says:

Kate, I love that you are doing this! I was thinking about Christmas music yesterday and I love Carol if the Bells. 🙂 you are so creative and I can’t wait to see Christmas designs!

  3. Brandy Thomason McNair says:

    OMG that calendar is beautiful!
I really don’t know the names of the Christmas carols… I am not even sure if I like Christmas carols but I do like the Country Christmas station on Pandora 🙂 Like Randy Travis – I think he does Silent Night. Or, even better, Mariah Carey’s version of “All I want for Christmas!”
Take that for Friday, and PLEASE draw my name tomorrow, Kate!

  4. Sarah Pollasch says:

Gorgeous designs! Lovely work. Thanks for doing the giveaway. 🙂
Christmas carol suggestion: We wish you a merry Christmas

  5. Emily Hubbard says:

“God rest ye merry, gentlemen” has always been a favorite. But I also like “o holy night”–all the verses.
Roy’s favorite is “oh come oh come Emmanuel.”

  6. Kate Blackshear says:

I love them all, but “Oh Little Town of Bethlehem” is sweet and “Silent Night” makes me cry, every time. Another favorite is “What Child is This?” or the classic “Joy to the World.” Joy could be a really fun thing to illustrate in the bright colors you love! Oh, I hope I win 🙂

  7. Elliot says:

As a child, despite the fact that I am not German at all, I always liked singing “O Tannenbaum” which is the German version of “O Christmas Tree”. I probably butchered all the words, but oh well – it’s the thought that counts!

  8. Ally Watkins says:

Those calendars are GORGEOUS!! Last year, I absolutely fell in love with The Wexford Carol, which is an old Irish song. Alison Krauss and Yo-Yo Ma do this gorgeous performance of it that I listen to on repeat all through December!

  9. Lindsay Barrett says:

It doesn’t feel like Christmas to me until the entire church has lit their candles and we all sing “O Holy Night.” It gives me chills just thinking about it.

  10. Maggie says:

Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silent. It’s so creepy and beautiful. Check out the BiFrost Arts arrangement if you need to hear it fresh.

But my goofy favorite is I Want A Hippopotamus for Christmas!

  11. Juliette says:

‘Silent Night’ is my favorite. I didn’t think it could get better until we moved to Germany and started singing it its original German. So awesome!

  12. Chrissie says:

  14. Tommie Stewart says:

My favorite Christmas song is “O Holy Night”. The words
always bring a picture of what it was like on that first night of
Jesus’ life. The stars were brightly shining…Hear the angels singing
it is the night of the DEAR SAVIOUR’S birth!

  15. Tommie Stewart says:

My favorite Christmas song is O Holy Night. The words paint a picture in my mind of what it was like on that first night of Jesus’ life. The stars were brightly shining and the angels were singing…the shepherds were leaving their flock to go find him…Our Almighty God made the Holy family comfortable even in dire circumstances. I don’t think that hay in the manger stuck in him at all!

  16. Amy says:

Do I have to pick just one Christmas song? 🙂 Away in the Manger, Little Drummer Boy, Joy to the World…Baby it’s Cold Outside! Love the Calendars!! Hope to see you again soon ma’am!

  17. Katie says:

I love so many! O Holy Night, In the Bleak Midwinter, Joy to the Word and O Come All Ye Faithful are some of my favorites!

  30. Alexa Werling says:

Nearly all Christmas music makes me want to vomit, but I’ve always had a soft spot for Paul McCartney’s “Wonderful Christmas Time” and John Lennon’s “Happy Christmas.” I also don’t *completely* hate when “I Wish It Was Christmas Today” (from an old SNL sketch) gets stuck in my head.

P.S. I never realized who sung either of those songs & I find it exceedingly coincidental that they’re both Beatles. Thanks for that!

  31. Becky Howard says:

Bruce Springsteen’s “Santa Clause is Comin’ to Town” is my all time favorite. Love the Big Man on the saxophone!

  32. Rachel Noel says:

“The First Noel” of course!! Every Christmas, my family buys anything and everything that says “Noel.” All wrapping paper, decorations, and yes, holiday cards must say “Noel”!!

And thanks to Ally Watkins I now have a new favorite after googling the “Wexford Carol”!

  35. Emma says:

I love, love, love your work! My favorite Christmas carol is probably Breath of Heaven by Amy Grant. It’s so haunting and powerful and beautiful.

  36. Rowan Haug says:

We Three Kings ( you could do something with the “Star of wonder” line?). And “Baby it’s Cold Outside” (though not technically a carol).

  37. Neha Luhar-Trice says:

my best carol memories are singing The 12 days of christmas with my mom. she was always helping me remember the parts I forgot.

  39. Sally Scordino says:

Don’t know if this is the title or not but my favorite is ‘Mary Did You Know’. Love your calendars! Got two last year – one for me and one for my granddaughter…

  40. Pam Hatfield says:

Kate, This is such a great idea and the colors are so exciting. I love just looking at all of your “little things”, you amaze me!! The carol that I love so much is a new one; I heard it last year for the first time and I cry everytime I hear it and watch the video. “Where’s The Line To See Jesus” was sung at our children’s program last year and again with our Choir at their Candle Light In White Christmas program. To be your winner would be super; but for others that have not seen or heard this video would really be a blessing to all. It is about a little boy who goes with his Aunt to the Mall and he sees all the kids in the long lines waiting to see Santa and he looks up at his Aunt and says “I want to see Jesus, Where’s the Line to see Jesus!! Awesome and also very heart tugging for all who know and love God but find ourselves losing touch with what Christmas is all about, “Jesu

  41. Carol says:

I love your designs, Kate!! Some of my many favorite Christmas carols are Silent Night, White Christmas, and The Christmas Song (Chestnuts roasting on an open fire). And I love you!

  42. Monet says:

Oh my goodness! I just found out about this…and in the knick of time! I love Silent Night. We sing it at our church and I get goosebumps every time. I am SOOOOO excited to see you at the Renegade Craft Fair in December. Have a wonderful day!

  43. alyson says:

I will always love Vincent Guraldi’s “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” It’s not really Christmas until I hear it!

  44. Gwynne says:

Gorgeous design! Glad my friend Monet shared your work with me. 🙂

One of my all-time favorite X-mas carols/songs is “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing” as sung by Sufjan Stevens. Cheers!

  45. Molly Mc says:

I love all Christmas Carols and most Christmas music. Go Tell It On The Mountain that Jesus Christ is Born…..and Mary Did You Know are two of my favorites that I haven’t seen already mentioned. Christmas music…..my favorite !!!!

  46. Gaye Sikes says:

Ok. Here’s the old music teacher. Christmas CAROLS are based on scripture and are used in churches. Christmas SONGS are secular, fun, and are used during the holiday seasons. Jingle Bells is a Christmas song. Silent
Night is a carol. See?? My favorite is “O Little Town of Bethlehem”. Words are so beautiful. “No ear may hear His coming. Yet in this world of sin, where meek souls will receive Him still, our dear Christ enters in”.
