By The Yard – Ready for the show!

The quilt is done, thanks to my amazing mother! I am shipping 30 fat quarters and the quilt up to Philadelphia tomorrow morning. I am beyond excited with how the quilt turned out. Here are a few process shots of working on the quilt.

This is a sketch I made of the quilt. Each of the colors represents one of the 6 fabrics I had printed. Mom made it in solid strips. I would have loved to do a more complicated design, but we just did not have the time to dedicate to it. Maybe someone will want to buy the fabric and do just that.

At this point, Mom had sewn two big strips and then we were laying it out to see how the rest was going to look.

And here is the final quilt! It’s 30 1/2 inches wide by 36 inches tall. I am so proud and happy. I am reluctantly shipping it up to the show, because I want to keep it for myself.

Here’s a detail of the quilt.

Here are the fat quarters with my tags that I made today. It’s so fun to see it all together. This has just been a dream come true for me.

I am so honored to be in this upcoming show with so many talented women textile designers. The show is open on November 4th and November 19th, 6 – 10 pm, Part Time Studios, 2031 Frankford Ave., Philadelphia. If you are near the area, go see the show. I wish I was going to be able to make it!

YEAH KATE (and kate’s mommy)!!! I’m so, so, so, so, so proud of you and YOUR fabric and your QUILT! The quilt looks Ah-mazing! One question… what are the “fat quarters”? I’m a little confused on that one…
