Lady Gaga Print – The Process

I thought I would share with y’all the process of the Lady Gaga print I recently made with Dave Whitley. This is my first official collaboration for Little Thing Studio. The reason I asked for Dave’s help is because I absolutely loved this quote. I think that is just brilliant. And YES, I think Lady Gaga is brilliant. You don’t get to 12,000,000+ followers on twitter by just being trendy.

I’m just trying to change the world one sequin at at time – Lady Gaga

Okay so the process. I found this quote quite a while back. I just knew I wanted to make a print of it. I just had to. But I wanted to do it justice. I felt an obligation to Mother Monster. I started playing with shapes, but I couldn’t figure out what I would want to do with the type. Here are some things I had started making…

As you can see, I was all over the place. I was stuck. I would play with it, then close the folder for a few weeks. Then I’d return and take another stab. This went on about 3 months. (I have a lot of folders like this.) The whole time Dave was looking at all of this, and I’m sure he could tell that I was just lost as a goose. I finally broke down and emailed him all of my files. “I’m stuck. I don’t know what I’m doing with this. Help. Do something.”

Dave emailed me the next day his thumbnails. I was SHOCKED.

YES. I was so excited to see this. This is just what I had in my mind but couldn’t figure out how to get there.

Later that night, he sent me this!!!! Isn’t he so good!? I keep telling him that I knew him when. So we worked from there. Here are the final two prints that we went with. He liked the warmer toned one, and I kept pushing for the teal/blue/pink one.

You can buy the warm or cool toned in my etsy shop. And hire Dave to build your website.

It’s been featured in the French Paper Sample Room & Eight Hour Day.

New Print – Joyful Joyful

I have a new print up in my etsy shop! I have been reading several books on Oriental rugs. This drawing was inspired by that. And the birds that are in the middle are roosters. I have three different color versions. I am currently only putting two of the colors in the shop. If you are interested in the cooler/blue tones, email me at kate {at} ktyazoo dot com.

Here is muted one. And the listing for the bright red. It’s an 11×17 inch print, on Starch White French Speckletone paper. It sells for $20.
