Small Business Saturday Sale

Small Business Saturday

Small Business Saturday Little Things Studio Sale

It’s amazing how fast Christmas is upon us! I am packing up for my first holiday show this weekend in Atlanta. I wanted to give all you wonderful people a heads up on this year’s Little Things Studio after Thanksgiving Sale! It’s going to be on Small Business Saturday, November 29th, starting and ending at midnight Central time.

iPhone Cases will be on sale for $20. All small and large prints will be marked 20% off. No coupon code necessary. AND you can use the coupon code “HOLLYJOLLY” for free U.S. Shipping.

For your orders to get to you in time for Christmas, Mom and I are asking for you to place U.S. orders by December 17th.  And international orders, please place orders by December 2nd. We will still be taking orders and shipping up until December 20th, but that does push it close to it making it there. We can always email you a print-out that says a package is coming so you’ll have something to wrap! The etsy shop will close on December 21st and reopen after Mom has some time to recover!

I’ve reordered more hymn calendars from my printer so hopefully that will last us until Christmas! I’m not sure if I’ll reorder more. I am now offering discounted pricing for bulk orders of 10, 15, and 20 calendars. That is the lowest price you will be able to buy the calendars. And if you want more than 20, please contact me and I’ll make you a custom listing. I can’t believe I’m even typing all of this. I am still just overwhelmed with the response to the hymns. I’m so very grateful.

I’m also releasing a new print next Saturday. I am so happy to finally have made a Southern print that I can get behind.

Hope y’all have a wonderful Thanksgving with friends and family!

2015 Hymn Calendar

I’m so happy to share with you the 2015 calendar! It’s 12 months of some of my favorite hymns! I always seem to run really behind on starting on my calendar. I just sent it to the printer a week ago and got a proof today from my printer. I’m so happy with the color and quality. You can preorder the calendar on etsy for $18 with free U.S. shipping. The calendars will ship by November 1st. I’m also running a special – buy two calendars, get one teeeny print free!

I think the hardest thing on this project was deciding on which hymns to pick. SO here are the  hymns that I picked for the calendar.

january through junejulythrudec

Here are the backs of the each month – filled with bright colorful patterns that are perfect for you to reuse once 2015 is over.

I’ve been overwhelmed with the response to preorder. I thought I might get 10 preorders, and I’m still shocked at the number of orders that have been placed. I had to bump up my order from my printer! And I’m thinking about doing another hymn calendar for 2016, because there are a still a lot of hymns that I need to draw. I will also be turning a lot of these hymns into art prints before Christmas so be sure to be on the lookout for that!

BUT I still need YOUR help getting the word out! If you are a fan of hymns, would you share with your friends and family? Or let me know a Christian blog that might be interested in the calendar! I would normally submit my calendar to a few design blogs, but I honestly don’t know if I’ll get the press because it’s Christian content.

New home in East Nashville

We made it to East Nashville a week and a half ago to our new home! It was a lot of work to get here. I didn’t realize how much stuff I’ve accumulated for Little Things Studio. I’m talking 70+ boxes, not including office furniture. That’s like moving three teenage girls! All that to say, the massive U-Haul we rented was NOT big enough to fit everything! We have to go back to Jackson to get more stuff.

I am so proud of Dave for driving that massive U-Haul. I was a nervous wreck, worried someone was going to pull out in front of him and not give him time to stop! And our trip which normally takes 6 hours took 8 1/2 hours because we got in a traffic jam in the middle of nowhere on the interstate in Mississippi! And you might be wondering what we did with our cats? Well they were heavily sedated in our car with me! Poor Eric’s eyes were cross-eyed and his tongue would hang out a lot. It was pitiful. YES we got everything from our vet who had been taking care of them for two years so they knew the correct doses for them! They were back to normal the next morning! But y’all. Weezie normally gets carsick within 30 minutes of the ride. She throws up, cries, poops, etc. It’s not good. The medicine worked perfectly for her. I was a proud mom.

We thankfully had family and friends help us pack the U-Haul. Then we had friends to help us unload! We hired the Piano Man in Jackson to load my 550 pound upright piano, which belonged to my Aunt Helen. Then Nashville Piano Rescue unloaded it into our house. When I get all the boxes and stuff moved, I’ll take pictures of the piano, along with the rest of the house.

While it is awesome to be here, moving is tough. Dave and I have both been fighting some kinda cold/allergy/sick thing. I slept all day yesterday and have not felt that great today. And I hate being sick when there is so much to do! There are still 40+ boxes of LTS stuff to unpack. We’re battling mold and old house smell in our kitchen that has kept us from unpacking our kitchen. I have to stay off Twitter because I see so many small business girls like me talking about Christmas, rolling out their 2014 calendars, and blowing up on the blogosphere. I haven’t even started to think about Christmas. I’m still looking for my printer cartridges! It took a week to find my hair dryer! HA!

I’m having to take it one day at a time and be thankful for the little things that are going right. One thing is going well is our cats are adjusting much better than we expected! They both LOVE all the windows in the house. And we can open up the windows for them, and they can stare out the screens. It’s a little slice of heaven for those two cats.

Weezie and Eric both love the new bathroom, mainly the bathtub.

They also really love the green blanket in the living room.

I know this might not be a big year for Little Things Studio, but it’s probably the biggest year of my life to date. I know I’m going to be back to work full force with new prints, calendars, scarves, and more. It might not be as big as I would like, but it will be what I can handle.

Our Wedding Post 1

We just got our first round of photos from our photographer! They are amazing. There are SO many awesome ones that I’m just going to break this up in several posts. First is pre-wedding and wedding photos. Theia Mingo knows how to use natural light. And it is so evident in these photos. I have been a fan of her work for years. I’m so honored and thrilled that she said YES to working for us!

I’m putting the much anticipated wedding program online. My friend Andrew Le said this was probably the best wedding program he’s ever seen!!!! For those of you know him, you’ll know he’s a man of few words and does not say things he doesn’t mean. I couldn’t stop smiling after he told me that. AND I’m finally showing a picture of my ring. I didn’t have a picture until now that did my ring justice. Y’all. It’s beautiful. I still look at it and am wowed. And my sweet husband picked it out without me even giving him a clue as to what I’d want.

You can view 200+ photos on Theia’s site. And she wrote the sweetest post about our wedding here. Hope you enjoy!

We’re Married!!!

Kate & Dave WhitleyWE GOT MARRIED, Y’ALL!!!!!

I couldn’t be happier to be dealing with a pile of paperwork and long government lines for changing my name to KATE WHITLEY. I married my best friend. I couldn’t be happier and prouder to be his. July 20th was a really happy day. Dave made a website that uploaded all of our photobooth and live tweeting from our friends HERE. I don’t say “epic” a lot because it gets really overused, but OUR PHOTOBOOTH WAS EPIC.

I am going to do a series of DIY tutorials on how I made all of our decorations for our reception. And I will be posting THE BEST WEDDING PROGRAM I’VE EVER SEEN and I’m the one that designed it! 😉

I am so thankful for all our vendors, family, and friends that helped make our small wedding very special for us. Because I’ve been getting a few questions, I’ll go ahead and answer a few. Dave’s custom suit was from Indochino. I took all his measurements and they sent him a perfect suit. My dress was from J. Crew, but it was sold out! I found the dress on ebay for just $300! Flowers were of course by Whitley’s Flowers. My bouquet was DIVINE and what made it more special is that Robert (Dave’s dad) made it. The food was insanely good. Catering by Cosmopolitan Catering by Macy. If you are in Jackson, HIRE HER. She’s the BEST. Our cakes and sweets by the amazing Dream Cakes! Dave’s cake was the shield from Legend of Zelda. I designed my FIVE LAYER cake. Our photogragher Theia Mingo sent us this photo a few days ago. I can’t WAIT to get our other photos back. I know they will be amazing because she is incredible.

I’ll leave you with some of my favorite photobooth pictures.
