I love my iPad

I am not calling my iPad a “little thing” because it is kind of pricey, but definitely worth every penny for me. I have had it for two weeks now and I can’t remember what I did without it! Isn’t that sad! But seriously, this is such a fun and useful gadget. I use it for email, checking etsy, twitter, facebook, whatever. BUT the app I love most is Flipboard. I don’t know how to pull screen shots yet from my iPad, so I’m just going to tell you about it. It allows you to customize your page to feed in your favorite sites. Mine include facebook & twitter of course. BUT I also know know the latest on all of my favorite blogs that I’m just usually too lazy to visit. design*sponge, Swiss Miss, HOW Magazine, Print Magazine, etc. But my favorite discovery is Quipsologies that the amazing Under Consideration run.  I LOVE the stuff they post on here! They are posting cool new things that no one else! I love it!!!! Allow me to get on a soapbox for a moment - I’m just going to say it. If you are a graphic designer, you just should know who they are. You just should.

I also am addicted to Font Shop’s amazing app! Oh my word it’s just everything. The first night I opened it, I played on it for over two hours. And the only reason I put it down is because it was 2 in the morning and I had to be up for work the next day! AND best of all – the color palette is black, white and YELLOW!!!

Of course I bought Apple’s smart cover they made for the ipad. It’s brilliant. I bought the cream leather cover. I couldn’t resist.

BUT then I bought the cutest iPad cover from Rogue Theory on etsy for $36. It just made me happy

But I think you could probably guess what’s my favorite thing about my iPad. The video so I can record Weezie. I mean, who doesn’t want to watch my cat go crazy on a piece of French paper!

American Quilt Print Series

I was really nervous about putting this series up on etsy today… But I’ve already had one sale (from a very hip friend) so that made me feel better. I think it’s good to question myself and have doubts about it, because that means I’m not playing it safe. And when I start to play it safe, then I need to start over with something completely new. And that something new will be hairdresser school.

I actually made these quilt/geometric/circle things back in January, but I wasn’t sure what to do with it. And the colors were very different. But I was making new journal covers and I tried this new color palette on them. I got really excited about it. It’s the excitement of making something new that keeps me going. Each of these prints are named after one of America’s Founding Fathers. Now, I don’t know if this has crossed your mind, but it has crossed mine – pink on a print titled “Franklin?” Absolutely. Because our history is not old and stale. It is relevant today. I love reading about the Revolutionary War and how this country was founded.

So I’m selling all four prints in a set or individually. Visit my etsy to shop around!

ipads & Weezie

Today has been an awesome day because I went to the Apple Store to buy an ipad! Grace blogged about me at Design*Sponge on the same day I flew to Chicago and I was left with just an ipod touch to communicate to people. My mother was left trying to answer all the emails that I received. It was NUTS. I knew I needed some way to connect to the internet if I was going to keep traveling. I decided upon an ipad. It is perfect for me, because I can pay just $20 a month to AT&T for internet anywhere! It’s much less expensive than an iphone and I didn’t need a laptop. So this made the most sense. AND I can now get Weezie on video. So here she is y’all. She doesn’t do any cool tricks, jump in boxes or roll over and bark. She just sits there basking in her cuteness.

Weezie, the cutest thing ever! from kate thomas on Vimeo.

AND the cat app that Weezie likes is Games for Cats!

May you live everyday of your life!

Aaaaand I’m back! I’ve neglected my little blog for the past month. I’ve busy living and learning. I went one weekend to visit my talented, kind, and just all-around awesome friend Jessica Swift in Atlanta. Then I traveled to Chicago for the HOW Design Conference, which was absolutely incredible. But life really got crazy on the day I flew to Chicago. Grace Bonney on Design*Sponge blogged about my etsy shop. My shop EXPLODED with orders and my mother has taken over filling them for me. It has become her full-time job. I cannot express how amazing and exciting the past month has been for me. All I can say is that things have really picked up! I’m not making promises on this blog about writing more consistently, because there are things that happen beyond our control. And it is way more important to be out there living than tied to a chair writing about others living. So, my wish for you, in the wise words of Jonathan Swift, “May you live everyday of your life!”
